Course Overview
Our PMVA Train the Trainer programme is designed for professionals working in healthcare, social care, education, and supported living environments where behaviours that challenge may occur.
The course equips participants with essential physical intervention skills, legal and ethical understanding, and the instructional techniques required to deliver high-quality, person-centred PMVA training.
Throughout the programme, participants will engage in classroom learning, practical sessions, group discussions, teaching practice, and structured assessments to build both confidence and competence.

Course Purpose & Core Aims
This course is designed to enable organisations and individuals to deliver safe, effective, and compliant PMVA (Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression) training in line with recognised industry standards.
Participants will undertake a nationally recognised 15-day intensive Train the Trainer programme. The programme is regulated and validated by the General Services Association (GSA).
Training Pathways & Outcomes:
- Full Programme: Ability to teach breakaway and physical intervention techniques, including safe restraint and controlled movement of an aggressive individual to a safer environment.
- Deliver structured, compliant, and engaging PMVA training sessions within a workplace setting.
- Apply safe methods for preventing, managing, and reducing risks associated with challenging behaviour.
- Understand and teach key legal, ethical, and professional responsibilities.
The course is informed by best practice guidance and recommendations from recognised organisations such as BILD and the Royal College of Psychiatrists, ensuring a strong emphasis on safety, dignity, and person-centred care.

Assessment Process
Individuals will be assessed throughout the programme through:

Certification
Individuals who successfully complete all elements of the programme will receive an electronic PMVA Train the Trainer Certificate sent directly to their email address.
