- Handling seclusion options using Safety Pod
Day 1 of Training
Covered reflective feedback, group discussions, challenging behaviors, root causes of distress, supportive culture, therapeutic relationships, person-centered care, populations and locations, dynamic risk assessments, the assault cycle stages, situational awareness, triggers identification, communication skills, and confrontational behavior indicators.
Day 2 of Training
Focused on understanding and addressing risks associated with restraint, including verbal and non-verbal de-escalation techniques, various disengagement techniques such as wrist, body, hair/clothing grabs, and avoiding punches and kicks. Participants also learned and practiced different levels of safe holds and team approaches, enhancing their ability to respond to challenging situations effectively.
Day 3 of Training
Participants received instruction and practiced a variety of techniques, including supine descent, seated de-escalation, and managing unexpected or unintentional controlled descent to the floor, both in prone and supine positions. They also learned about seclusion options, particularly using a safety pod, to enhance their skills and knowledge in effectively addressing challenging behaviors and ensuring the safety of all parties involved.
